Tiny Tiptoes

(For all students aged 2- 5 yrs)
A wonderful, nurturing program that inspires a love of
dance in our youngest students! Tiny Tiptoes is our
NEW preschool dance class that will introduce
students to basic movements, rhythm, co-ordination
and dance technique through Classical Ballet.
Our experienced and friendly teachers provide a safe,
creative environment for our young dancers to gain
independence whilst developing their coordination, motor skills and confidence through learning the foundation and fundamental elements of dance technique. Tiny Tiptoes
students attend class wearing their special dance uniform (just like the big kids!) and take part in our annual end of year concert.

Our fun and energetic Tinies classes are designed for students aged 2-5 years, to inspire a love of dance for those not yet in primary school! Students may enrol in either or both classes to get the most out of their foundational training.

Classical Ballet (R.A.D)

Classical Ballet is the foundation for every dancer’s training. The difference between a good dancer and
a GREAT dancer is BALLET!
This traditional style carefully develops the student’s technique

progressively year after year through grace, strength, and determination. If you want your student's dancing to excel, Ballet is the place to start! We offer the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus at Studio C,
allowing dedicated ballet students the opportunity to undertake training towards annual, globally recognised examinations. Our professionally trained and R.A.D certified teachers are here to support your student in their Ballet journey no matter their age or previous experience!

Students wishing to train for RAD Ballet exams must attend two Ballet classes per week and enquire to receive an exam information pack detailing extra costs, commitments & student expectations. Those wanting to excel in Ballet should also consider Conditioning as supplementary training!

Jazz

Jazz is a broad style with many variations but is more
commonly recognised (and popular amongst young
dancers!) for its sharper movements and upbeat music.
Students benefit and enjoy learning various aspects of
Jazz technique and choreography in this class, ranging
from Broadway to Commercial styles.  Our creative and
certified
Jazz teachers are committed to ensuring our
dancers learn technique and stre
ngth to help develop their skills.

Whilst we encourage all our dancers to enrol in Ballet to help build their foundation in dance, we understand it's not something every dancer may enjoy. Jazz is the perfect alternative style to provide foundational technique to support any Acro, Tap, Musical Theatre and even Hip Hop dancer looking to elevate their abilities & musicality!

Contemporary

Contemporary explores the combination of modern, jazz, lyrical and ballet dance styles through emotive movement expression. Frequently seen in music videos, Contemporary dance is often used as a way of storytelling through movement to all kinds of
music genres, both fast and slow!
Students will be challenged as their learned Contemporary

choreography and movements can vary from class to class. Exploring abstract and graceful stylings, students can enjoy the creative aspect of this class, covering improvisation, storytelling through movement and more!

It is highly recommended that all our Contemporary dancers have at least one year of Ballet training,
to fully develop through this style and gain a foundation of technique before expanding into this complex style.
Our Contemporary dancers experience the dynamically contrasting classwork including floorwork and coordination that are best developed fully in a foundational dance style first, and it is for this reason that our dancers must be a minimum of 8 years of age before enrolling in this class.

Acrobatics

Acro teaches our dancers strength, discipline and
flexibility to help them develop their tumbling, flipping
and acrobatic skills including learning tricks such as
walkovers, handsprings,
backflips, aerials and more!
Our specifically qualified Acro teachers are there to
safely push and encourage our students to new
heights... LITERALLY!

Like any new skill, mastering new abilities in Acro takes time and these classes help teach our students patience, and the determination to follow through. Students wanting to excel in Acro are encouraged to consider enrolling in a supplementary class that will assist in foundational technique and musicality, like Jazz! The strength and flexibility developed in Acro benefits dancers in other areas of their training and provides them with a set of unique skills, enabling them to be a more versatile performer.

Tap

Tap dancers wear specifically designed shoes with metal plates on both the heel and toe that create beats and sounds as they dance. In these classes, students will learn valuable skills to become well-rounded performers with a great sense of rhythm
and musicality.
 Tap choreography can
combine

movements from Jazz, Broadway and even

Hip Hop to create high-energy, dynamic routines that are mesmerizing to watch. As a dance style, Tap was made popular in the media by performers such as Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson, Shirley Temple, Gene Kelly, and Fred Astaire. It became a staple feature in movie musicals produced in the 1930's - 1950's but has also been seen in iconic modern movies such as 'Chicago', 'Happy Feet' and 'La La Land'!

Dancers wanting to excel in Tap should also consider enrolling in a supplementary style to further their technique, such as Ballet or Jazz!

Hip Hop

As seen in music videos and in movies, Hip Hop is a
unique but popular style! Many of our students enjoy
this style and it often benefits the dancer in other
areas, especially musicality, dynamics, and performance
quality. With many different variations of the style,
our dancers learn many ways to connect to their music
and express themselves through dance.
Hip Hop can
push dancers of any age to truly become entertaining performers through the use of their whole body and facial expressions! This style has proven to be quite popular with younger students, looking for a dynamic and energetic outlet alternative to our Jazz or Acrobatics classes.

Musical Theatre

Musical Theatre combines various styles of singing, dancing, and acting as a form of storytelling across a wide range of genres. Students experience everything from golden-age Broadway classics to

Modern contemporary Musical hits, learning the different aspects of performing arts both on and off stage.
Our highly experienced Musical Theatre teachers are excited and ready to pass on their knowledge, inspire,
and nurture future performers. We encourage students wanting to excel in this style to consider a supplementary style such as Jazz to help develop technique and foundational training!

Body Conditioning

This is a fantastic additional class for students wanting
to take their dancing to the next level! Dancers will
learn to condition their body through Pilates, strength
training and PBT (Progressing Ballet Technique) to
enhance their technique while focusing on core
strength, weight placement and alignment of the body. PBT uses carefully designed exercises that train the muscle memory required for all forms of dance. Body Conditioning is a unique program that helps with injury prevention, rehabilitation and enhances the athlete's ability to perform at their best.

(This class is compulsory for all students wishing to compete in a Ballet Troupe with Studio C!)

Private Coaching

Private dance coaching is a fantastic option for those wanting to further their dancing alongside their weekly group classes. We'll create a tailored program just for you; improve dance skills, technique, strength,

flexibility, and confidence! No age limits and no previous experience required! We'll do our best to find a teacher/timetable combination that works for your family but please keep in mind this may be trickier (but not impossible!) to navigate once timetables are set for the year. Enquire at any time and receive your Private Coaching information pack to learn more!

(Privately coached dance students don’t have to compete, but all competing students must do either private coaching or a troupe class.)

Singing Lessons

Anyone is welcome to start their singing journey with
Studio C; You don’t need any prior experience to learn
how to sing and use your voice! You also don’t need to
be a certain age to start singing training BUT you need
to adjust your expectations the younger you are. Singers of an older kindergarten age are not often able to read lyrics or music, but still have much to learn in other ways and so are able to participate, however our recommended youngest age to start singing training is 6 years old.

Studio C has been partnered with Music Makers Studio (previously named Jackson’s School of Music) since 2015, offering singing lessons with Susan Jackson. In 2022 we will continue to offer these lessons alongside our own as we introduce singing lessons with Miss Ella. Music Makers Studio is a fantastic place for students to learn for leisure, competitions and to study for their AMEB voice exams.
All information communication and enrolments for tuition with Susan can be organi
zed through Music Makers Studio; find them on Facebook or at their website www.musicmakersstudio.com.au .

Do I have to do singing exams, competitions, or perform?
No! Currently Studio C does not offer singing exams, but students may enter competitions after 12 months of lessons at the discretion of their teacher. While all students will be encouraged to perform in some capacity when their teacher feels they are ready, it is not a requirement or part of the lessons.

Studio C endeavours to provide in-house performance opportunities by way of concerts or showcases throughout the year, however, students are welcome to perform with the permission of their teacher in other external opportunities (farmers markets, school concerts/fetes etc.).
